Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Supplier Management Leader, the Procurement Analyst is responsible for supporting Global Procurement by providing advanced data analytics and project management for programs and processes related to supplier and category management. These programs and processes are typically related to spend; supplier data management; risk and responsible sourcing considerations; economic factors; supplier value and performance; supplier outreach management, customer reporting and related analysis, and tracking and reporting of metrics and compliance in the areas above.

Job Description

The Procurement Analyst is expected to acquire a broad base of knowledge in relevant areas of responsibility, while providing support to associates, BD businesses, and Global Procurement as a whole.

The Procurement Analyst uses advanced expertise in data analytics and the strong social intelligence needed to project manage and collaborate effectively with stakeholders to deliver quality, in-depth procurement insights.

Typical activities include:

  • spend and master data analytics
  • advanced spreadsheet manipulation (extensive knowledge of MS Excel is required)
  • extracting data from BD data management systems such as ERPs, eSourcing, etc.
  • data collection, compilation, merging, cleansing, harmonization, and governance
  • applying advanced logic to harmonize values, formats, and syntax from distinct repositories
  • data analytics for supplier segmentation, category taxonomy, associate approvers, etc.
  • tracking supplier value, performance, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • supplier assessments for sustainability, diversity, and risk
  • pricing analytics for BD customer-facing businesses (e.g., rationalizing price adjustments)
  • other analyses related to market, economic, and research data (currency, oil pricing, etc.)
  • diplomatically interacting with stakeholders to collect relevant data
  • supplier risk, tier n supply visibility, and supplier diversity data gathering and analysis for customer reporting
  • project management of any initiatives above

Knowledge

Required:

  • Advanced proficiency with data analytics tools, especially MS Excel, spreadsheet manipulation, data extraction, etc.
  • Familiarity with big data management, stewardship, governance
  • Project management processes, tools, and best practices
  • Broad business acumen and knowledge

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with procurement master and spend data, category management, strategic sourcing, and/or supplier management

Skills

Required:

  • MS Excel advanced proficiency (formulas, light coding/automation, pivot, merging, data stewardship, etc.)
  • Project management
  • Social intelligence, communication, and diplomacy

Desirable:

  • SQL, VBA, MS Access, Power BI tools, SAP/JDE ERP, other procurement data repositories and applications.
  • Procurement background (category/supplier management)
  • Working and influencing within a highly matrixed organization
  • Agile work behavior and strong business acumen
  • Ability to thrive in diverse environments

Education/Degree

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or other degree with high proficiency in data analytics

Certifications (if applicable)

Certification(s) in procurement, project management or equivalent is considered a plus.

Experience (indicate the number of years)

Minimum 1-3 years of experience with data analytics

Other (identify the minimal level of other competencies required for the position)

  • Strong team player able to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, complexity and under pressure with tight timelines and moving targets
  • Proficiency with standard software tools (MS Office, MS Project, MS SharePoint, etc.)
