Your responsibilities

  • Define and execute the raw chicken sourcing strategy for the business

  • Work with customers, brokers and suppliers to understand opportunities for procurement

  • Work with Cargill Trading, Risk Management and Analytics to further develop market insights

  • Optimize the supply chain through understanding requirements for raw chicken supply

  • Create reports to track costs associated with the product pipeline and minimize supply chain inefficiencies and costs

  • Where there is risk to chicken supply, propose and implement mitigating actions

  • Collaborate with commercial teams to keep them informed of supply

  • Engage with suppliers to ensure strategic partnership and suppliers provide required service, cost and quality

  • Lead or participate in projects to deliver the longer term strategy plan

  • Prepare market updates for customers and business leadership

Our requirements

  • Bachelors / Masters degree in a relevant subject – Procurement, Supply Chain, Business or similar

  • Extensive experience in Procurement/ Supply Chain related roles

  • Expertise in trading

  • Experience within a large multinational/ multicultural matrixed organisation

  • The ability to effectively influence, collaborate and deliver projects/ change management

  • Strong analytical capability to negotiate, analyse and prioritize in a complex multi-stakeholder supply chain

  • Gravitas to be able to build consultative relationship at a board level with suppliers and internally

  • Travel across the UK/ France/ Netherlands and Poland when required

  • Experience in Meat/ Poultry procurement would be a strong advantage

Job Purpose and Impact

Wolverhampton/ Worcester UK – Home based working UK/EU supported or Netherlands (Amsterdam preferred) or Poland (Warsaw /Nowy Sacz /Slupca)

Cargill’s European protein business is a leading supplier and innovator of further processed chicken products for retail, food service and food manufacturing customers across Europe. This key strategic position is responsible for procuring fresh and frozen poultry meat to supply our European further processing facilities. The position holder will drive value through; supply chain optimization, strategic origination, raw chicken inventory and product/ quality management.

The position holder will serve as the poultry procurement expert for the business, helping to define the sourcing strategy, providing updates to the internal leadership team and external customers on sourcing strategies and market conditions. The role also provides the opportunity to effectively partner with the Trading and Risk Management Team and Trading Data and Analytics Team, to understand and communicate business risks associated with changes in chicken prices.

The role will be cross-functional working with a global supply chain focused mainly in Europe, but also; Thailand, China, Brazil and Argentina, ensuring compliance of products and Cargill Protein Europe offers the best in class service and reliability of raw meat supply.
