    About the Team & the Job

    We are seeking a Procurement Specialist to join the six-person Procurement team based at Akamai’s location in Krakow.

    Procurement Specialists work closely with suppliers, other members of the Source to Pay Team, global business leaders and their finance support teams, Accounting, and employees located around the world. They manage the creation of supplier purchase orders based on user requisitions, and for ensuring compliance to Akamai purchasing policies. They review supplier contracts – not only finance terms, but also work with the legal team on legal language to ensure that any signed agreement is in line with Akamai guidance and protects the company. Additionally, they communicate orders to suppliers, as well as the application of appropriate account codes to purchase orders as required. Finally, the position provides superior customer service to all users, reporting & analysis, and value-add support to each functional and business unit organization as needed.

    Knowledge & Responsibilities:

    As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for:

    • Supporting the company’s objectives to provide transactional efficiency and consistency, and to develop a framework for spend analysis and supplier management to better manage the cost and value of goods and services on a global basis.
    • Providing day-to-day support for the requisition to order process, including the processing of purchase requisitions and creation and communication of purchase orders within agreed SLA.
    • Applying accounting codes properly; providing a source of expertise to other team members and requisitioners in proper practices in applying accounting codes.
    • Working with Accounts Payable for Purchase Order/invoice discrepancies. Making sure that root cause of an issue is identified, analyzed and all available actions taken in order to avoid it in the future. 
    • Handling follow-up with suppliers and exception resolution with requisitioning user in a professional manner.
    • Supporting the adoption of global processes and Global Procurement Policy across the business.
    • Reviewing supplier contracts and make sure that any signed agreement is in line with Akamai guidance.
    • Resolving directly, and serving as an expert resource to team members and other stakeholders in the resolution of any process exceptions.
    • Supporting IT in technical issues resolution and all types of IT testing.
    • Performing assigned Procurement processes (e.g. month end closing activities, monitoring of open POs, maintaining budget allocations) in timely and professional manner

    Functional Skills:

    • Minimum two years of experience in Procurement
    • Work independently with minimal supervision
    • Can effectively report status and complete assigned tasks within agreed upon timelines
    • Able to identify and communicate potential issues
    • Able to analyze and solve problems; able to gather, synthesize and summarize data
    • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel – vlookup, pivot table, functions
    • Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
    • Proficiency in Oracle R12 will be an asset
    • Accounting knowledge of P2P process (understand relation between PO, posted invoice and receipt including month end closing and accrual aspect)
    • Eagerness to contribute in a high-growth, fast paced, technology oriented environment
    • Experience in contract review and negotiations with suppliers
    • Experience with projects - a successfully led project team containing 3-5 resources
    • Take part in tasks and projects outside of day-to-day responsibilities
    • Can be counted on to exceed goals successfully
    • Proactiveness in suggesting and implementing process improvements
    • Availability to work for afternoon shift (2:00-10:00 PM) 1-2 times per week
