Your responsibilities

  • Culture of working safely by ensuring compliance with JMBM EHS and Process Safety Standards, compliance to risk assessments and safe systems of work pertaining to the operational activities within the JMBM Konin site;

  • Ensure efficient use of product, equipment and personnel resource to meet and exceed customer requirement in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner;

  • Supervise site operations with full responsibility of a specific area;

  • Responsible for the execution of lean manufacturing tools within the production shift;

  • Be able to liaise with other business functions such as Quality, Transport, Goods In / Out, Engineering and Management;

  • Develop and sustain process documentation and performance metrics / KPI’s;

  • Assist and/or lead in Root Cause Analysis;

  • Identify and report any errors on the production line or equipment channels;

  • Support team members in the success of achieving targets;

  • Investigate document and resolve issues of poor performance and feed back to the engineering teams;

  • Build networking relationships and collaboration within Engineering and across JMBM;

  • Assess training needs analysis and developmental needs for their team;

  • Appraisal of staff probationary periods;

  • Ability to manage at all levels and adapt management style to engage and motivate individuals;

  • Resolves resource conflicts, manage holidays, assigns priorities, Motivates and develops the shift team.

Our requirements

  • Degree qualified with technical background, preferred: chemical engineering for metals, chemical engineering, process engineering, chemistry;

  • 3 - 5 years progressively responsible operations experience in a manufacturing facility;

  • General knowledge of mechanical equipment, chemical processing, and process flow;

  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and experience of People Management in small teams, including: Performance management; coaching & mentoring; Resource Planning;

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), operations management theories, principles, methods and practices;

  • Excellent communication skills required to lead and motivate broad skill range of employees;

  • Influencing skills imperative to inspire and motivate team when managing change, influence behaviour and driving strategic direction within operations value stream;

  • Excellent networking skills to collaborate with and share best practice across JMBM Konin operational shifts for technical best practice;

  • Ability to direct, plan, organize, assign, review and evaluate the work of subordinates; Facilitating Change;

  • Operational excellence;

  • Coaching & Developing Self and Others;

  • Must be fluent in business English and Polish language.

Johnson Matthey is an expanding Battery Materials business, which is a material science and electrochemistry-based business with global reach. With the recent announcement of the new Johnson Matthey Battery Materials Poland manufacturing facility in Konin, Poland which will produce advanced materials for batteries for electric vehicles, we are actively recruiting for Production Area Manager to join our new Production Department.

The Production Area Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and line management to the department, coordinating and overseeing their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met.
