Job Description

Translation Project Manager is responsible for planning and managing localization and translation for software, documentation and training content modalities within the assigned technology portfolio(s) for Motorola Solutions (MSI). The role requires the project manager to liaise with multiple internal MSI teams, which include product design and development, program management, operations, and the appointed language service providers (LSPs).

Responsibilities:
  • Establish and manage the relationship with internal translation requesters
  • Manage the planning of translations projects to ensure swift regional and global launches of MSI products
  • Manage the execution of multiple translation projects within a program
  • Prepare translation requests, source packages and hand-off instructions
  • Troubleshoot roadblocks, identify causes and perform corrective/preventative actions
  • Liaise with the LSPs and internal MSI teams to clarify project-related queries
  • Work with SMEs for quality assurance checks on translated content
  • Validate translated deliverables, provide feedback to LSPs
  • Drive high quality service and deliverables from LSPs
  • Publish deliverables and communicate availability to stakeholders
  • Identify and manage project risks; define mitigation actions
  • Be an engine for advocacy by raising MSI internal teams’ consciousness about content creation and globalization
  • Monitor content design and development standards and processes, identify impact on translation and make recommendations that aid translation and localization process
  • Propose new translation standards and/or make improvements to existing ones
  • Optimize translation processes in terms of time, cost and quality
  • Initiate and take part in organization- and MSI-wide initiatives to gain translation efficiencies

Basic Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Translation, English Language, Project Management or similar
  • Working knowledge of translation and localization domain, including TMSs, TMs, translation style guides, glossaries, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in localization/translation 
  • High skill level in English written and verbal communication
  • Good time management, ability to develop and execute schedules and define performance requirements
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong attention to detail, proactiveness, innovation
  • Strong team player able to work independently in well organized and reliable way in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to drive cooperative initiatives

Motorola Product Knowledge

Translation Project Manager will be expected to gain an understanding of the features, functions, and applicability of Motorola Solutions products and services. Prior experience or knowledge is a plus, and the willingness to rapidly obtain such knowledge is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience in designing and developing software, manuals and training
  • Knowledge of continuous delivery pipeline, software code repositories, structured writing, DITA, Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, video tools, content and learning management systems
