Your responsibilities
Consultancy purpose:
Save The Children is providing continuous support to Ukrainian population affected by the escalation of conflict and residing in Poland. Our staff is working on implementing Child Protection and Education programmes for Ukrainian children – working with affected population to provide needed support results in increased risk of stress and burnout resulting in need of Psychological Support for local staff.
The overall objective of this consultancy is to provide support to national staff who are exposed to stressors, challenges and at time highly stressful events/incidents in their work.
Objectives:
The specific objectives of the consultancy to provide psychological counselling are:
- To contribute and improve to the well-being of staff and their mental health and raising awareness on stress, its effects and how to develop healthy coping mechanism to manage the work and personal stress
- To provide immediate support through hotline or tele-counseling process
- To contribute towards improving practices and cultures aimed at improving work-life balance
- To alleviate the causes of stress by improving good management style through improved employment relation
- To improve quality of working life: employees feel happier at workplaces and perform better
- To increase employee engagement: attendance levels go up and sickness absence goes down
- To support staff and offer strategies and solutions to mitigate negative coping mechanisms and reduce the impact of this work
- To ensure staff feel empowered and supported in their work and job satisfaction
Proposed Schedule/ Timeline:
- Individual counseling: done remotely – as needed by national staff; open to all national staff for Year 2022-2023; an hour session
- Save the Children Poland Response to be billed only on the basis of actual number of hour spent on counseling staff each month; this will be validated by CO-HR with service provider ( about 6-8h a week)
- Support to Critical Incidents – as needed, on ah hoc basis
Our requirements
Deliverables and Scope of Work:
Staff Counselor/s will provide following Psychological support:
- To all national staff on-call basis/ remote counselling through remote communication (Teams, phone) other remote options.
- To receive phone calls as scheduled and e-mail to set appointment with the staff needing psychological support and will provide tele-counselling support as it is required.
- Providing staff with individual and/or group counseling (i.e. assessment, short-term intervention, referral).
- Develop and submit post report to the Save the Children Poland Response management with findings on issues that are creating stress and high levels of stress/distress among the staff (e.g. what is causing stress and trends around reasons for contacting the counselors.) The report will also include specific recommendations, the report cannot contain specific cases and personal data of employees.
- To provide immediate psychosocial support after highly stressful events/incidents.
- Staff counsellors must be fluent in Polish and English.
