R2R/O2C Lead - Associate Director

Main purpose of the job:

Pro-active management of the General Ledger Department with accurate and timely reporting. Day to day management ensuring efficiencies are maintained and driven through where highlighted, in line with the growth of the business. Leading General Ledger Accounting Function, ensuring the team adheres to and is compliant with relevant financial and legal legislations.
 

Responsibilities:

Reporting:

  1. Manage the R2R process delivery team engaged in delivery of in scope processes including General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Intercompany and Reporting, Cash & Bank and Cost Allocations, Payroll Accounting, Client Accounting while ensuring quality and efficiency of work performed.
  2. Manage the completion of required close activities including review of month end Intercompany statements and ensuring all journal entries (including intercompany) are accurately posted and supported as per Month-End-Close calendar.
  3. Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  4. Ensure timely and high quality Balance Sheet accounts reconciliations and sub-ledgers to GL reconciliations
  5. Oversee and support submission of monthly, quarterly and annual reports required by the region according to the agreed calendar
  6. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial and management reports generated through ERP systems including updates for changes in financial master data (e.g., chart of accounts, entity structure, accounting codes, etc.).
  7. Monitor escalated issues and unresolved account balances and ensure timely resolution.
  8. Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the R2R function, ensuring that improvements are incorporated in the work routine.
  9. Take ownership of the R2R processes and responsibility for integrity of the ledgers
  10. Ensure robust compliance environment with applicable policies, procedures and processes.
  11. Monitor the performance and quality of activities performed based on agreed upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level agreements (SLAs).
  12. Ensure that process change directives and other changes initiated by global are implemented regionally.
  13. Proactively monitor and operate a robust SOX and internal control environment.

System Skills:

  1. Experience of ERP systems to fully maximize the outputs, efficiencies and productivity of the role and department.
  2. Very good excel spreadsheet and graphical presentation skills
  3. Take responsibility for any future projects in the R2R area that would increase efficiencies and productivity

Management:

  1. Staff recruitment, motivation and training.
  2. Participates in employees’ development by coaching, delegating and constructive feedback practices. Identifies areas for employees’ development.
  3. Future planning of workload and resources of the team, with development of individuals to achieve this.
  4. Promote cooperation, teamwork and knowledge sharing
  5. Ensure team is aware of SLA’s and that these are adhered to.

Technical:

  1. Manage the month end close process in accordance with timetable.
  2. Ensuring the shared mail boxes are managed, sorted through daily including proper allocation among team members for processing.
  3. Ensure policies and procedures are valid and updated regularly where needed.
  4. Maintenance of the department procedures manual.
  5. Assist Auditors with queries and questions during company Audits.
  6. All queries and issues are tracked and dealt with in a proactive and timely manner
  7. Any other ad hoc requests in line with the role of GL Lead from the Corporate Accounting Manager, Finance Lead or Group Financial Controller.

Perfect candidate profile:

  • Degree in accounting / finance required
  • Professional qualification (CPA/ ACCA/ CIMA) is required
  • Experience in G/L in a similar role for at least 2 years is a must
  • Experience in transition will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of US GAAP would be an asset
  • People management experience required
  • Able to coordinate and motivate team members towards a common goal
  • Able to formulate clear objectives, delegate responsibilities and follow up regularly
  • High level customer service skills
  • Ability to demonstrate examples of process enhancement
  • A committed team player who is keen to develop their career and their team
  • Well organized, able to keep set deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent Excel skills and ability to manipulate data on spreadsheets to produce meaningful management reports and KPI’s
  • Flexibility, ability to deal with ambiguity and change
  • Fluency in English, able to communicate complicated technical issues in English to finance and non-finance professionals in clear and understandable manner
  • Due to the seniority of the position, you may be expected to work outside core hours for the effective performance of the role
