The Role

Product Stewardship (PS) IT is the central tool that enables product HSSE regulatory compliance for Shell. Compliance is critically dependent on the integrity of the data that are maintained in our IT applications. Failure to meet product regulatory requirements can result in fines and damage to Shell’s reputation.

 

This role provides leadership and technical IT support for processes required to manage and meet product HSE regulatory data submission or extraction requirements particularly related to REACH, EU CLP, harmonised EU Poison Centre Notifications and regulatory systems in other jurisdictions. This will enable Shell to continue to market and purchase chemicals in compliance with applicable regulations.


Key accountabilities:

  • The filing of legal registrations, inquiries and dossier updates under EU REACH.
  • Supporting Product Stewards in the REACH submission process.
  • Reviewing external agency-set IT requirements for registration submission, functionality of the agency tools, and to ensure members of the PS community are skilled in using the IT tools.
  • Tracking the status of Shell product registrations or Poison Centre Notification compliance, regularly provides statistics to Product Stewardship and related business leadership.
  • Managing maintenance and upgrade of internal, Access-based compliance tool.
  • Acting as business owner of REACH IT and the IUCLID database which is the legally mandated tool for REACH registrations.
  • Supervising external agency communications and ensuring effective tracking.
  • Responsible for confirming REACH compliance with 500+ suppliers.
  • Line management of an administrative support role.

Requirements: 

 

We are looking for candidates with a background in chemical regulatory compliance and typically over 5 years’ experience, hoping to see as many following experiences as possible in your CV:

  • Experience with chemical regulatory systems.
  • Prior experience with REACH IT / IUCLID is a plus.
  • Technical BSc or advanced degree, ideally with affinity for IT (incl. SAP and other relevant systems).
  • Skilled in using SAP, preferably the SAP Environmental, Health, and Safety Management (EHS) package.
  • Knowledge of the refinery and chemical substances.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex supply chains.
  • Effective communication, sharing over a widely distributed network within a matrix structure of accountabilities (geography, business, product group).
  • Records management.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective stakeholder management and ability to influence.
  • Ability to manage potential conflicting stakeholder requirements and expectations.
  • Effective working within a virtual team, across business boundaries.
