Position Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
Rockwell Automation is looking for an impactful Project Reliability Engineering individual contributor to join our team. The incumbent will:
- Analyze field data to identify potential reliability issues on previous generation products
- Lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) and track completion of actions
- Work with cross-functional team to identify critical or high-risk components that affect reliability
- Create and analyze component, printed circuit board assembly, and product-level reliability models for design and predictive maintenance
- Design and execute HALT tests to identify potential weakness in new product design, and work with cross-functional team to plan post-HALT test actions
- Design and execute component and product-level reliability demonstration tests
- Review electronic component derating calculations and assist engineers in developing solutions if violations occur
- Generate design specifications, guidelines, and checklists to ensure reliability knowledge is captured for future designs
- Create custom engineering tools that help automate the Design for Reliability process
- Develop and implement a robust reliability roadmap and guide teams on how to meet reliability goals
In this role, working in a matrixed and dynamic environment with creativity, attention to detail and effective communication is key. This position also has significant interactions with internal and external customers.
Minimum EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, or Reliability Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years related experience
- Proven effective communication across all organizational levels
- Ability to influence and drive results with cross-functional and global teams within a complex matrix organization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive performance results
- Familiarity with basic statistics and probability distributions
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Primarily Excel and PowerPoint, Power BI)
- Demonstrated experience in many of the following areas:
- Accelerated life testing (ALT)
- Design for Reliability (DfR)
- Design of Experiment (DOE)
- Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Fatigue and creep analysis
- Fault tree analysis (FTA)
- Hazard analysis
- Highly accelerated life testing (HALT)
- Manufacturing defect analysis
- Material stress and wear calculations
- Mean time between failure (MTBF)
- Mean time to repair (MTTR)
- Monte carlo simulation
- Part stress modeling
- Physics of Failure (PoF)
- Reliability block diagrams
- Reliability testing
- Reliability test plan development
- Reliability tools
- PTC Windchill software
- RAM Commander software
- Reliasoft software (Weibull ++, ALTA pro, BlockSim)

Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to execute Enterprise Resource Planning system, preferably SAP
- Certification in Six SIGMA tools and methodologies (i.e., Green Belt / Black Belt)
- Effectively provide key inputs into product requirements by leveraging deep understanding of HW, SW/FW, and embedded Software integration at a product, application and system level
- Sound technical understanding of the environment inclusive of products and infrastructure that must work together to achieve the desired customer outcome
