Your responsibilities

  • Turn high level (business requirement and target operating model/gap analysis) statements into tangible tasks (i.e. Functional specifications) in the context of the touch points in the existing/new system stacks, become SME within initiatives and go to person around overall design / data / data flow / process

  • Support IT in creation of functional specification documentation/JIRA tasks etc.

  • Work with the business and IT in a collaborative and iterative manner to build out appropriate solutions

  • Use a consultative or participative approach& encourage positive peer relationship

  • Analyze present systems and processes, formulate new or revised systems, examine techniques in use and determine appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance efficiency to meet business needs

  • Review and interpret policies, practices and procedures and assure complete understanding and compliance by all affected personnel, recommending appropriate changes needed to accomplish the Bank's aims, objectives and programs

  • Support the design and conceptualization of new business process solution options and articulate identified impacts and risks

  • May assist in the development of budgets and other departmental reporting such as monitoring of expenditures, collecting statistical performance measurements and managing space planning; produce detailed system requirements, evaluate vendor responses and make recommendations to management.

  • Prepare comprehensive reports presenting recommendations for operating procedures or workflow improvement, organizational changes, introduction of controls and procedures, evaluation of equipment and automation requirements, etc.

  • Engage with the PM / Architecture level to align solutions and overall platform goals and present proposed solutions to the appropriate design authority

  • Work with various stakeholders to source/ analyse information and bring an appropriate depth of experience to help drive decisions

  • Ensure stakeholders are engaged and contribute where there are options to be considered such that any compromises are understood and agree

  • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy

Our requirements

  • Proven track record of taking high level business requirements and producing functional specifications / technical documents and ability to engage with internal stakeholders in order to understand and discuss both operational and technology change challenges

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken English

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and end to end impact/process reasoning skills

  • Experience in working within Baking / Financial industry

  • Ability to interpret user requirements to meet technical development needs and also interpreting technical development needs/questions into user friendly communication

  • Must be observant and pay close attention to detail

  • Must have the ability to execute and deliver both individually and through the team, on required initiatives with minimal supervision or intervention from Management

  • Strong knowledge in Business Process Management or experience in designing BPM

  • Experience in workflow management and design

  • Advanced knowledge/experience in Testing; end to end process/impacts, tools and methodology (JIRA/Confluence/Diagrams).

  • General knowledge in Development, Database Management, Infrastructure designs

About the project

Wealth & Private Banking – Chief Technology Office– Business Automation Technology (WPB CTO BAT)

WPB CTO BAT team within HSBC Technology Poland is positioned as a nearshore location for European countries, widely supported by the bigger offshore teams on deliveries. Team is helping to build, implement and maintain new initiatives and systems mainly for the internal HSBC employees in EU region. We are building new internal solutions and enabling local businesses to strive and meet not only regulatory demands but also their growth agenda. Being located in Technology Centre is a strong enabler for EU region as team is playing role of a bridge between in-country IT teams and other technology teams within HSBC. Our products cover multiple aspects and areas – digital signature, workflow, content management, process streamlining and automation. All this is achieved with high level of autonomy and ability to choose our path and technology direction we would like to implement in the EU countries. We are seeking new team members who would help to guide and support the delivery teams on number of projects, help us to evolve technologically and bring new technologies and technical capabilities to the stakeholders and EU business.

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to help us strengthen our delivery capabilities. SBA will be focusing on the complex and varied book of work associated to our demand coming from the UK. On joining to the team, the successful candidate will be expected to quickly gain a solid understanding of the existing processes, system flows and components currently used: displaying sufficient interpersonal and relationship building skills to liaise directly with engineers, IT business partners and directly with Business stakeholders, SMEs to develop functional specifications and work out best design and solution proposition from our perspective based on demand from the Business. The role will require the individual to evaluate current processes, to understand incoming requirements and identify technological improvements which will allow HSBC to succeed in its goals. There will be elements of business analysis (drafting of business requirements documentation), project management, and implementation ownership of technical solutions as well as non-tech continuous process improvements. Successful candidate must have strong technical skills and proper understanding of all technological processes and application development lifecycles, as well he needs to have strong knowledge around business process management and as well be enough open-minded and have willingness to learn new things – even to the extent of delivering small solutions based on BPM (might include somewhat process designing). The individual must have as well ability to run in projects where there are no IT PMs where solutions will require wider scope than just BA activities.

The role will start with a particular workflow technology (FVQ) and learning this before broadening out into other opportunities.
