About the project

The role will sit in the creative technology within the WPB Design System team. Key objectives and governance of the deliverables in this role will be agreed by the design leads of WPB Design System

This role holder will be expected to operate largely independently in the development, deployment and management of the initiatives within their remit.

Working with senior design management and creative leads to drive efficiency

Drives and evangelizes customer-centric design across the whole business for visibility and sharing

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall quality of design components in development libraries across different platforms

  • Discover new opportunities on how technology can help to improve design quality and efficiency

  • Evangelize importance of design-technology alignment to help promote design-orientated culture at HSBC alongside the design discipline

  • Drive, manage, mentor and grow team skills and capabilities

  • Be the ambassador of the HSBC design system and toolkit libraries

  • Stakeholders include, but not limited to the following:

  • Design System Team

  • UI and Creative Direction

  • UX

  • Product Design Leadership

  • Platform Product Leadership

  • Driving the overall development and owning responsibilities of the creative technology discipline

  • Assist the design system team and platform foundation team in creating and maintaining best in class experience by enabling a design-development process to eventually deliver best-quality reusable component libraries

  • Be the bridge between design and technology, increase communication to minimize gaps in between

  • Establish and maintain design-development communication on design system topics, best practices to ensure consistency and minimize unnecessary, repetitive work

  • Drive, mentor and grow the creative technology discipline to lessen reliance on external vendors

  • Regular review to identify key risks, issues and interdependencies. Determine and apply approporiate mitigation strategies

  • Ensure an equal and balanced focus is maintained on operating and regulatory risks and ensure the Virtual Management Team positively identifies and mitigates these in a manner that protects the Brand

  • Ensure regular and positive engagement with key support functions such as Risk, Compliance and HR to ensure alignment of policies and plans necessary to deliver a demanding transformation benefit target

  • Implementation of Global Standards, Financial Crime Compliance and Risk considerations in an aligned manner within the context of the RBWM strategy through operational practice and planned activity

Our requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with global teams

  • Experience leading front-end development projects

  • Solid experience with at least one of these web frameworks: React / Angular / Vue

  • Experience working with API

  • Experience working on mobile native development (iOS / Android) is a plus

  • Developing processes and methodologies

  • Strong on internal and external relationship building and management

  • Team management - Mentorship / coaching

  • Career management, Project management, Performance management

  • Manage resources to achieve business targets / objectives

  • Share and contribute to the latest industry and design trends. Have an expert understanding of many digital best practices in development
