We are looking for: Senior DevOps Engineer (Java)

We are looking for a candidate with good experience in software development (Java, REST) development and DevOps (automation, scripting, Docker, etc).  The scope of work is contributing to the development of an open source application, and related in-house integrations, used by the whole organization.

Your primary role will be in automation and all phases of development up to and including deployment to production (requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, deployment, troubleshooting). You may also be involved with operations, and supporting end users.

We work with Agile methodology, with best of breeds technologies and open source tools (micro-service architecture, Git, Jenkins, Gradle, Docker, test automation framework, etc).

Responsibilities:

  • Dev part (Java) – 60%
  • Ops part - 40% including:
  • Monitoring & troubleshooting production - 10% - This would typically be in-depth troubleshooting that require developer skills (e.g. JVM level)
  • Development (Automation) & maintenance of production related scripts - 30% - this is mainly automation (scripting, Ansible, CI/CD, investigating/implementing open source solution e.g. Prometheus/Grafana)
  • Pure end user support - 0%

Required competencies:

  • Several years of relevant IT experience in areas like: testing, software development, integration and/or administration
  • Solid knowledge of and experience in:
  • Linux shell-scripting
  • Git
  • Java development and related framework (e.g. Spring)
  • RESTful APIs
  • Automation & scripting (Shell, Python, …)
  • Relational Database (more specifically PostGresSQL)
  • Troubleshooting application in Linux environment
  • Agile teams (SCRUM) methodologies
  • Team player and problem solver with a high level of selfmotivation and initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, especially in English.

It's helpful, if you have professional knowledge of:

  • Docker
  • Automated deployment frameworks (e.g. Ansible)
  • CI/CD (Jenkins, Sonatype Nexus/JFrog Artifactory)
  • Networking configuration and load balancing 
  • Monitoring and analytics frameworks (e.g. Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Profiling and troubleshooting Java applications/JVM
  • Automated testing
  • Design patterns
  • User support
