Your responsibilities

• Reconciliation of accounts including:

- 401k accruals

- Environmental

- Restructuring

- Deferred Rent

- Pensions/Post-Retirement Medical

- Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO)

- Freight Expense/Accrual

- Medical Accrual

- Workers’ Compensation

- Other accounts / accruals as assigned

• Prepare and review monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for various legal entities.

• Various month-end close activities including loading SAP to HFM.

• Work with actuaries for Pension, OPEB and Workers Compensation. Prepare and reconcile liability calculations based on actuary reports.

• Coordinate and prepare workpapers for annual defined contribution/benefit plan audits with HR and Plante Moran (auditors).

• Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting packages for the legal entities.

• Prepare quarterly / annual governmental census reports.

• Work with the Technical Accounting Manager in the preparation of the year-end audit schedules and consolidated financial statements.

• Support Fixed Asset Accounting

- Operating v. Capital lease testing

- Monitoring of regional IFRS 16 compliance

- Monitoring of regional IFRS 15 compliance

Our requirements

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience with an accounting and/or auditing background

  • Minimum bachelor degree in accounting, finance or similar field

  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent with public accounting experience a plus, but not a requirement

  • Strong communication skills including fluent English

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment, multi-task, establish priorities and adapt to change, propose and implement process improvements

  • Ability to solve problems independently

  • Ability to take ownership of processes and accounts

  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills

  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) a plus, but not a requirement
