Senior Investment Adviser

The British Embassy in Poland is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an energetic, enthusiastic, self starter and motivated Head of Investment Team to work in the Department for International Trade (DIT).
The DIT helps UK-based companies to succeed in Poland and other international markets and it works with companies overseas to bring high-quality investment to the UK. The team in Poland is part of DIT’s Central Europe Network (CEN), which comprises of 10 markets: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The successful jobholder will lead and give strategic direction to a newly formed team that will work towards attracting high-quality investment to the UK from different areas like IT and not only.
Main responsibilities will include:
Provide strategic leadership to the DIT Investment team in CEN along with day-to-day management of staff and team resources, ensuring delivery of the CEN regional DIT Business Plan and implementation of the UK Government’s strategy and approach for growth and prosperity;
Encourage new high-value investment to the UK from CEN countries. Identify and develop successful relationships with existing and potential investors to the UK, promoting the UK as a key partner for globalisation and ensuring that investment leads are fed through to DIT HQ investment team;
Grow existing CEN investment and flow in the UK and develop relations with key business and institutional stakeholders in CEN with a core focus on building a strong pipeline of investment landings in UK for foreign companies in CEN; and maximising the FDI team’s contribution to delivery of an ambitious CEN regional FDI target;
Manage and grow the existing FDI pipeline of projects and prospects for the CEN region;
Seek out and develop meaningful and productive relationships with multipliers and existing / potential CEN investors;
Focus on investors in key strategic sectors, as defined by the CEN Business plan;
Contribute to regional efforts to represent the interests and maintaining the reputation of the CEN with senior colleagues at DIT Headquarters and other UK government stakeholders in the UK, helping to ensure continued priority, support and resources for the region;
Deliver high value investment from Poland into UK, ensuring the management of key accounts of Poland’s largest companies and personally overseeing very high value potential investments in the CEN region;
Work closely with the DIT ‘One Team’ around FDI project delivery including other British Government Departments, regional offices and other delivery partners to maximise operational effectiveness.
Manage CEN Investment team budget at regional level, responsible for financial reporting for DIT CEN Investment regionally (Oracle – Hyperion system) – budget promotion and forecast;
Line management responsibilities for four graded C4 (Senior Investment Adviser) and one B3 (Investment Analyst Advisor);
Lead, motivate, develop and manage investment team to ensure a high-standard delivery of targets and services;
Ensure team’s compliance with FCO and DIT systems and procedures;
Ensure completeness and timeliness of reporting and recording tools;
Guarantee the quality of appraisal and performance process.

Fluency in English and Polish (both oral and written);
A College / University level degree in a relevant area or equivalent experience;
At least 5 years of management or commercial experience with least 2-4 years experience managing staff;
Strategic commercial and economic awareness;
Excellent team leadership skills and a record of delivering results, with the ability to bring diverse teams together to work toward common goals;
Proven ability to develop relationships with customers and stakeholders;
An innovative attitude especially towards customer service and performance management;
Excellent communication skills;
Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and Internet.
Experience with Oracle systems and databases preferred.

This is a full-time position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for a two year contract which may be extended by mutual agreement.
The monthly gross salary for this position is PLN 17,813.
Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law. Please be aware that the British Embassy in Warsaw will not be able to cover any costs connected with relocation.
The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.
Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
