    We are currently looking for a highly skilled individual with software development and platform engineering skills to join the Odyssey engineering team. As a Senior Java DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for helping us to develop and support the bank’s strategic developer enablement & innovation platform.

    Your main responsibilities will be to:

    • Innovate strategic solutions within the DevOps space with a focus on Continuous Delivery and Deployment
    • Design and develop enterprise grade applications in Java using frameworks such as Grails and Spring Boot
    • Customize and extend commercial and open source solutions by creating, for example, plugins for tools such as Atlassian, Jenkins, Gradle and Grails
    • Identify opportunities for the application of machine learning and automation within the platform
    • Develop and maintain strategic development platform with a view to improving scalability, reliability, performance and resilience
    • Provide operational support for the Odyssey platform, with a view to automating and simplifying tasks
    • Provide technical expertise for the community and collaborate with other engineering teams to across the bank
    • Act as subject matter expert for the IT developer community and other stakeholders
    • Review the platform and ensure the firm’s mandatory obligations are met

    • You have at least 7 years of experience in delivery of innovative software solutions
    • Excellent enterprise application development background with a focus on Java
    • Experience migrating enterprise grade solutions to cloud offerings
    • Knowledge around building maintainable and automated tests with frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito and Selenium
    • Deep understanding installing, maintaining and monitoring Java applications on Linux
    • Proficient skills debugging and performance tuning Linux based applications
    • Strong capability to design highly available, scalable and resilient applications/architectures
    • Experience with process automation using scripting languages such as Python and Bash
    • Familiarity setting up large scale CI/CD pipelines
    • Expertise in the software lifecycle and application development best practices
    • Comprehensive knowledge around software development tools, e.g.: Jira, Confluence, Git, SVN, and Artifactory
    • Full competence of continuous integration servers such as TeamCity and Jenkins
    • Authoritative aptitude working with containers and virtualization solutions
    • Ability to partner with senior stakeholders both in the team and across the bank
    • Dedicated self-starter with an ability to own, lead and deliver projects
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Nice to have:

    • Grails, Groovy and other languages
    • Configuration management tooling such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef and Salt
    • Maintaining a large application platform with a focus on availability and monitoring
    • Maven/Gradle/MSBuild/cmake
    • Apache/Tomcat
    • Familiarity with agile methodologies
    • Working within a globally distributed team
