Your responsibilities
Handling and supporting privacy matters under supervision of our Clients;
Supporting our Client's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Programme and the various work streams as required;
Monitoring, advising, drafting and negotiating data protection agreements/clauses including revision for GDPR, transfer mechanisms, and preparations / matters linked to Brexit;
Assisting with Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA’s) and providing support to cross-functional teams on privacy compliance activities in multiple regions;
Drafting and advising on complex data protection-related documentation such as data privacy policies and assisting in drafting of other DP related internal policies, procedures and manuals and their implementation;
Ensuring appropriate records are maintained across privacy processes;
Support the DP related 3rd party vendor management process, contact with vendors and internal business owners, contract reviews, vendor questionnaires and risk assessments;
Providing support with the management and reporting of data breach notifications, including preparing security incident/data breach investigation reports: collect relevant information from individual reporting the breach, involve relevant stakeholders and manage internal breach log;
Responding to queries from individuals, including assisting with the searches and collation of data, the review and preparation of responses to DSARs, and other DP related requests from individuals when needed, database management;
Assist with responding to general requests coming into privacy team.
Our requirements
Law Degree and/or Legally Qualified;
Knowledge and understanding of data protection compliance that can be evidenced through work experience in a similar environment;
Strong knowledge of the GDPR and other data protection laws and regulations, practices and legislation – knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations or exposure to them preferable;
At least 3 years proven involvement/experience in the provision of data protection advice, guidance and data protection compliance processes;
Detailed understanding of the rights of data subjects under privacy legislation (particularly GDPR);
Demonstrable experience of independently drafting and negotiating commercial;
contracts within a law firm, as part of an in-house legal team or within Factor
Excellent attention to detail;
Operates with substantial latitude, with minimal or no supervision;
Frequent client-facing experience;
Strong commercial awareness, experience of working with business managers;
The legal knowledge to act as a senior advisor to our Client’s and serve as an escalation point on issues for more junior team members;
Very strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
Very strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite - especially Microsoft Word
Optional
Relevant data protection certifications, e.g. CIPP/E, specialist accredited qualifications such as GDPR, DPA 2018 or IAPP qualifications preferable;
Experience of client relationship management;
Working with a recognised matter management system as part of daily routine;

The role
We’re looking for a senior data privacy (EU) specialized lawyer. As a member of our team, you will work alongside a team of like-minded high-performing individuals, working on engagements for large Global clients, within Financial Regulations, Corporate Restructuring, Financial Services or Commercial Contract Negotiation and other contract related work as part of a wider support service to our clients’ contracts management and in-house legal teams. You will utilise and enhance your skills on a variety of client engagements whilst gaining exposure to Factor’s tech-enabled environment.
