Your responsibilities

  • Master your technical field and stay up-to-date on any new developments and their applications in the automotive industry, by having close contacts with the suppliers and external institutes, attending seminars, and reading technical literature,

  • Act as a technical reference for all products under your responsibility (e.g. OE program responsible’ s, TPLs, GSCM, Manufacturing, etc.),

  • Act for most of the projects as an individual contributor or as a team member in a cross-functional team, with the support of technicians, mechanics, suppliers, the testing department, etc., or lead a small team that will work on a technical project,

  • Define the design of new products with the support of CAD designers. Know, develop and apply internal technical standards, procedures, and specifications. Use appropriate engineering tools and techniques (FEA, FMEA, etc) as required,

  • Define and coordinate performance and validation tests. Use statistical analyses tools and DOE (Design Of Experiment) techniques, when required. Issue and monitor development reports,

  • Support the development of new suppliers and validate their products.

  • Assure compliance with the required project timing using the appropriate tools (project plan, BOS reporting, work planning), report your results on a regular basis,

  • Support maintenance of the Engineering database to ensure the latest templates are available,

  • Ensure functional understanding of key damper attributes and tolerances,

  • Supports the new product SOR / DVP including the necessary deeper translation to sub-system and component level SORs,

  • Integrates the sub-systems and component design / development / validation into the product design / development / validation,

  • Support PLEs and/or Product Management with the product portfolio strategy,

  • Grow the Product Line Engineering capabilities relative to processes, tools, and engineering infrastructure,

  • Understand Tenneco manufacturing damper assembly processes and the key processes that affect damper performance,

  • Support the annual benchmarking plan for damping systems of competitors and analyze damper technology trends,

  • Support the creation of summary reports of benchmarking results,

  • Create DFMEA Engineering Culture (Lead the development and maintenance of Global Generic DFMEAs for each Product Line, Utilize the DFMEA format as specified by Global Operations).

Our requirements

  • Master Degree’s in (electro-)mechanical engineering,

  • At least 5 years of technical experience (experience in the automotive industry will be an advantage),

  • Fluent in English,

  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions,

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables,

  • Developed Tech-savvy skills,

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,

  • Result and customer-oriented,

  • Able to use or willing to learn statistical DFSS tools

  • Willingness to travel on an ad-hoc basis to visit customers abroad.
