Software Dynamics is a new and fast growing program that provides key insights into the whole bank’s software development lifecycle to all levels of the organization. It supports a number of strategic projects across all functional areas to improve IT effectiveness by providing timely and observable insights, from DevOps telemetry for development teams, to strategic decision metrics for the bank’s senior management team.

The agile team is enthusiastic about providing innovative and creative solutions to address the wide-ranging requirements, with some freedom in technical decisions. The team is highly international with members in Zürich, London, Dublin and Warsaw.

We are currently looking for a senior software engineer to join the Software Dynamics team. As a Java Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and supporting key functional capabilities of the Software Dynamics platform to deliver a fast growing set of insights across the software lifecycle to all stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

You will design, develop and maintain multi-node distributed Java-based applications including:

  • New DevOps telemetry data collectors and APIs covering the application development lifecycle, including both on-premises and SaaS data collections.
  • New self-service web front end for users and administrators of the platform.
  • You will take ownership of new features for the Software Dynamics platform across the full software development lifecycle.
  • You will evaluate, engineer, customize and extend open source solutions.
  • You will partner with senior stakeholders both in the team and across the bank globally.

Requirements:

You are enthusiastic about learning new technologies, and not afraid to roll up their sleeves to help reach the team’s challenging objectives.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in designing and developing Java-based applications using industry-standard technologies. E.g. Spring Boot 2.x, Angular.
  • Experience of SQL including query optimization, PostgreSQL experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge and practice of building maintainable and automated tests with frameworks such as Junit 5, Mockito or Selenium.
  • You have prior experience with Maven and/or Gradle dependency management.
  • You know software development tools such as Git, Subversion, Artifactory and Jira.
  • You show familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.
  • Experience with process automation using Python or Perl.
  • You are familiar with debugging and performance tuning of Linux based applications.
  • Understanding of installing, maintaining and monitoring Java applications on Linux.
  • You are a dedicated self-starter with an ability to own, drive and deliver projects through their lifecycle.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills, cross-region experience would be advantageous.

Nice to have:

  • DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity setting up CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity of working with container solutions.
  • PostgreSQL or Cloudera use & administration.
  • Working within a globally distributed team.
