Surface & Console Mechanical Project Engineer

The team you will be a part of

Surface & Console Mechanical Project Engineer is mainly responsible for components and Subsystem design of a Built In Oven Console and Cooktop (Gas/Induction/Radiant).
Console & Surface Analyst belongs to the global BI Surface & Console Subsystem team, located globally in Joinville (Brazil), Cassinetta di Biandronno (Italy), and Saint Joe (Michigan), in this role the candidate will work on product development for all Whirlpool manufacturing locations.
            
This role in summary

Surface & Console Mechanical Project Engineer is mainly responsible for components and Subsystem design of a Built In Oven Console and Cooktop (Gas/Induction/Radiant).
Console & Surface  Mechanical Project Engineer belongs to the global BI Surface & Console Subsystem team, located globally in Joinville (Brazil), Cassinetta di Biandronno (Italy), and Saint Joe (Michigan), in this role the candidate will work on product development for all Whirlpool manufacturing locations.

Your responsibilities will include 

  • Supporting and working for projects through all project phases
  • Solving problems and finding reliable technical solutions for the application
  • Creating ideas for new designs, cost reduction and quality improvement projects
  • Supporting lifecycle development of the product / product group
  • Develop and capture knowledge required to deliver subsystem level excellence through Design Guides, FMEA, DVP&R, A3’s, Tolerance Stack Ups, and other documents.
  • Cooperating with other functions (marketing, design, industrial engineering)
  • Defining subsystem requirements and validate them through analysis and tests 
  • Supporting Product Specification based on released documentation and validated tests
  • Support benchmarking activities, experimentation, data analysis via statistical tools (6 sigma, Opex)
  • Support intellectual property creation: initiating and following-up on patent analysis and identifying new ideas for patents
  • Preparing and participating in design reviews
  • Support team, delivering CAD models for Finite Element Analysis 
  • Demonstrate project management skills to drive projects through the design, testing, and implementation phase respecting projects KPIs.
  • Coordinate prototype build plans to evaluate design concepts through physical lab testing

Minimum requirements:

  • Master/Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field desired
  • 2+ years of experience in the same or very similar role
  • Good communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Preferred skills and experiences:
  • Experience in component/product development lifecycle management
  • Drawing experience and GD&T (Geometry Dimensioning & Tolerancing) application (tolerance definition and analysis), 
  • Experience in component/product development with 3D CAD modeling (Creo 4.0 is preferred), Windchill experience
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, Requirements management, 6SIGMA tools
  • Knowledge on product thermal management, induction or gas
  • Knowledge and working experience in injection molding and sheet metal forming processes
  • Knowledge in tooling construction
  • Knowledge in simulation analysis (Finite Element Analysis)
