About the project
Systems Engineers work in Operations Team with the main focus on building a platform that meets the reliability requirements and enables development teams to deliver new functionalities to customers quickly and frequently
our platform runs an Internet of Things backend infrastructure which requires processing and storing large amounts of events
we base our platform on Infrastructure as a Service. On top of this we automate the whole life cycle of the infrastructure using configuration management tools. We dive deep into challenging operational issues concerning software, systems, automation and process.
Your responsibilities
build and maintain automation that drives the platform behind Gigaset Elements and Gigaset VoIP products
design the platform for ensuring availability, reliability, performance and scalability
work closely with software development to enable rapid delivery cycle while meeting the reliability requirements
assist in or lead incident response, diagnosis and follow-up on system outages or alerts affecting Gigaset production infrastructure
build and maintain monitoring, dashboards, alerting, log collection
tackle issues across the entire stack - OS, software, application and network
Our requirements
have strong Linux knowledge and experience
have strong TCP/IP networking knowledge and experience; especially Internet protocols (HTTP, DNS, SMTP, NTP, etc.)
know how to build automation in a Linux-based environment
are comfortable with shell and scripting languages used in an Operations engineering context (Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)
can efficiently use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
have solid analytical skills, practical problem solving, excellent communication, and documentation skills
desire to work with complex distributed systems
Optional
knowledge and experience with open source automation tools (Puppet, Ansible, Salt, etc.)
experience with High Availability, clustering and Load Balancing systems (HAProxy, Keepalived, etc.)
understanding of Linux firewall (iptables)
experience with containers and orchestrators (Docker, Kubernetes, Swarm)
experience with microservices architecture
deep knowledge on Linux internals, architecture, performance tuning
experience with the use, maintenance and configuration of monitoring, metrics and logging infrastructure (Sensu, Prometheus, Grafana, Graphite, Logstash/Kibana, etc.)
experience with data storage technologies (Elasticsearch, Redis, MariaDB, PostgreSQL)
strong system and network security knowledge
