Your responsibilities
The Systems Integrator (SI) Lead is responsible for determining an application’s infrastructure requirements and translating that into an infrastructure solution design incorporating servers, storage, networks, and security components. The solution must address performance, availability, and recoverability while optimizing cost. An SI must be an excellent communicator as they work closely with senior staff and management and are required to document their solution in a professional manner.
The SI Lead role adds a leadership component to the role such that the individual will be the regional manager for a small team of SIs. The Lead is expected to spend about half of their time managing and coaching staff and half of the time executing projects directly.
Our requirements
Every SI is expected to be an expert in either Unix, Windows, or database technologies, but must be conversant across these plus storage, networks, and web apps. The “integration” part of the job title infers the understanding of how the various infrastructure components impact each other and the ability to diagnose problems or performance bottlenecks across all of them. As the firm is beginning adoption of public cloud services, experience with AWS or Azure is considered an advantage.
The SI Lead is expected to have experience managing a small team, handling personnel issues, monitoring labor budgets, and coaching employees for success in a technically demanding role. The candidate is expected to be a thought leader as well as a people leader. The Lead role should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the industry.
Expert knowledge in Unix, Windows, or database technologies and being conversant in the others is required. You will be expected to expand your cross-technology knowledge during your SI career.
Detailed understanding of network and storage technologies and how to align those with application requirements is necessary
Solid experience with the architecture of commodity server hardware, HPE Proliant server experience preferred
Knowledge of VMWare ESXi and how virtual (guest) servers behave on the platform is required
Experienced in designing for high availability (99.99%) and in designing disaster recovery solutions
Understanding of performance monitoring tools and how to interpret the values is critical
