Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for the review and feedback to internal and external clients, on complex, and often high value, Guarantee, Transactional Trade & Receivables Finance transactions

  • Work closely with various stakeholders [including Legal, Compliance, Product Management and Global Trade and Receivables Finance & Commercial Banking(CMB)/Global Banking&Markets (GB&M) sales staff & relationship managers] to manage the operational integrity and technical competence of the product

  • Work closely with Global Trade Receivable Finance Sales/Relationship managers in the process of client acquisitions involving transactional facility review and takeover

  • Respond to customer and business needs

  • Promote and enhance HSBC’s Transactional Trade Service capabilities

  • Provide in-depth technical advice and guidance to internal & external clients

  • Work closely with colleagues in Product Services / Commercial Banking(CMB) to enhance each other’s knowledge and remain abreast of current Financial Crime Compliance (FCC)/ Anti-money laundry (AML) Global procedures

  • BAU running of a large operations team to build a culture of “we get it done”

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the team to facilitate their enhanced learning and development

  • Escalation point for complex queries from other HSBC Group offices

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant governing rules/Functional Instruction Manuals(FIM)/Group Audit as well as other external regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements

  • Ensure appropriate reference to Legal to protect Bank & customer from undue risk for Guarantee issuance

  • Maintain or Enhance technical knowledge by studying / reviewing professional publications and the financial press

  • Continually reassess the operational risks inherent in the business

Our requirements

  • A track record in Leadership roles in an operations setting, with teams size of 15+ FTE

  • Able to independently make sound business decisions using experience, good judgement and business sense and make recommendations on issues outside of own authority

  • Ability to plan and organize in a challenging and changing environment

  • Strong communication and influencing skills to manage clients and stakeholders in this complex environment

  • C2 minimum standard English Language


  • A good knowledge of Trade, Guarantees or Receivables Finance (OtC/AR, Supply Chain, RtR)

  • Good knowledge of related ICC publications, URDG758, ISP98, UCP600, URC522

  • Good knowledge of Bank’s Operational Risk & Compliance policies and procedures, including CRRT & WOLF reporting

  • A 2nd language (other than English) to C2 level

Job Description

The jobholder will day to day manage a team of both technical experts and language experts in meeting SLA performance for the delivery of trade transactions for our globally trading clients or affiliate bank partners

The jobholder will assist in the management of the operational integrity and technical competence of the European Regional HUB by being one of the primary points of contact for all internal stakeholders and external clients in respect of complex transactions. Ensuring excellent service quality, and that all transactions are processed to tightly managed SLA deadlines whilst minimizing operational risk and maximizing income
