Your responsibilities

  • As a manager within the Model Governance, Operations and Control team the role holder will be responsible for

  • Ensuring the TTOP GRA Operating Instructions are up to date and reflective of the latest Model Risk Governance Policy and Standards

  • Documenting tailored TTOP policy and standards guidance for model developers to ensure the core concepts of MRG policy and standards is adopted consistently across all TTOP areas

  • Ensure Model Life Cycle templates are up to date and reflective of the latest MRG policy and standards

  • Liaising with the model developers to ensure their requirements around tooling for governance process and controls is correctly documented

  • Managing tooling deliverables end to end

  • Ensuring Control Framework is in line with the TTOP Operating Instructions

  • Supporting Model Governance Forums including GRA PSC

  • Draw conclusions from own or team analysis, advising and making appropriate recommendations to the TTOP Senior Management in order to rectify issues identified.

  • Imperative escalation of potential regulatory and internal market misconduct breaches to Compliance Senior Management.

  • Work closely with Global Head of TTOP, to implement Traded Risk project across the Globe.

  • Support and embed change initiatives; identifying and developing new or improved delivery mechanisms

  • Independently perform assignments to achieve stated objective. Determine and develop approach to solutions

  • Responsible for supervising a department or a functional unit/area team

  • Co-ordinate and manage several complex projects in TTOP

  • Understand functional risks in own functional area and monitor team adherence to policies

  • Management responsibility for a team of professionals, including people, performance, budget and planning decisions

Our requirements

  • Knowledge

  • Understanding of the documentation of quantitative risk modelling methodologies and techniques

  • Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.

  • Business analysis, requirements gathering and design techniques

  • Experience

  • several years in a governance, risk or finance role

  • Strong stakeholder management/ interpersonal skills

  • Strong team management

  • Demonstrable ability to translate complex modelling techniques into high quality, coherent documentation

  • Strong experience in a process orientated project environment; ability to work as part of a tightly focussed project delivery team

  • Strong record of delivery; ability to work under pressure in delivery of projects with tight deadlines

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

About the role

Global Risk Analytics (GRA) is a global team responsible for model design and management of broad classes of financial and operational risk at HSBC. We are tasked with setting standards and providing mission-critical, cutting-edge tools to help identify, measure and manage risk, as well as enhance an enterprise-wide compliance across HSBC.

The GRA Traded, Treasury and Operational (TTOP) Risk Analytics team deals with risk models for measurement of trading book risks, treasury and liquidity risks as well as operational risk. Its focus are risk models used for Credit, Interest Rates, Equity and FX asset classes. This includes market risk, credit counterparty risk and stress testing models. The team is scattered across two main hubs (London and Kraków) and holds responsibility for development and First-line-of-Defense validation of these models. The team focuses on models used for risk reporting for the whole HSBC group and cooperates with regional GRA teams on matters related to local risk reporting.
