About the project

The role is within the Traded Risk Transformation team that is responsible for the delivery of end to end projects across the Traded risk portfolio. The projects are generally regulatory requirements (e.g. FRTB, IBOR transition, etc.) or strategic initiatives by the bank (e.g. Cloud migration, streamlining Front-to-Back platforms, etc.)

The role would require close co-ordination with Global and regional stakeholders across Front Office Quants & IT, Group Risk Analytics (GRA), Traded Risk Business and Transformation, Middle Office (MMO) and Traded Risk IT teams to deliver the projects.

Initially, this role will require the candidate to work on the EPLAF / NYE demise project as the end-to-end Project manager.

Your responsibilities

  • TRADED RISK SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER SCOPE:

  • a. Program/Project management of one or more major projects within Traded Risk with focus on Counterparty Credit Risk / Market Risk.

  • b. Work with and support the key sponsors in Traded Risk and Risk Software Delivery to develop business and system strategies to support the strategic direction of Traded Risk.

  • c. Successful delivery of Traded Risk projects covering Counterparty Credit Risk / Market Data & Scenarios / Market Risk calculations, aggregations and reporting

  • d. Ensure that projects are delivered in line with Traded Risk expectations and global operating model by balancing requirements w.r.t. time to market and cost/benefits.

  • e. Ensure that Business and IT resources are co-ordinated during project lifecycles.

  • f. Review, report, resolve, mitigate, and escalate project risks and issues as appropriate.

  • g. Maintain strong communication among and between team members and programme stakeholders

  • h. Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which you are involved, specifically internal controls and any compliance policy including the Group compliance policy.

  • STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT SCOPE:

  • a. Constructive engagement with key stakeholders i.e. Traded risk management, Traded risk control, Traded risk transformation component Product Owners and BAs, Software delivery teams, FO teams, Traded Risk Analytics team and design architects.

  • STATUS REPORTING SCOPE:

  • a. Provide periodic status updates regarding project status, test completion status, RAID Log, in the tools and templates selected by the wider IT and Transformation team

  • Be able to work in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies

  • Maintain HSBC Internal Control Standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with your role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Our requirements

  • Strong End to end Project Management Experience

  • Prior experience of executing large, global system infrastructure projects within business change or IT in Investment banking / Traded Risk areas.

  • Very strong understanding of Traded risk domain in areas related to Counterparty Credit Risk / Market Data & Scenarios / Market Risk with focus on areas related to pricing & valuations, risk measures, risk methodologies, risk calculations and reporting and a broad idea of Front-to-back risk architecture generally seen across Tier-1 banks.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are vital for this role

  • Broad knowledge of asset classes and their implications in terms of Market Risk / Counterparty Credit Risk

  • Previous experience working closely with software delivery

  • Strong interpersonal skill with proven ability of organisational planning, resource mobilization and problem solving.

  • Previous experience working closely across multiple regions

  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities including the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and apply sound business and technical domain knowledge

  • Team player with good interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

  • Educated to at least degree level

  • Additional qualifications in Risk (FRM, PRM) would be useful
