About the project

● Booksy is the leading beauty marketplace for finding, scheduling and managing appointments (with over $3bn annualized GMV run-rate and over 13 million bookings per month worldwide), anchored by a SaaS app for business management

● We are headquartered in the United States and have over 750 employees based in offices across 6 countries (US, PL, UK, BR, ES, ZA)

● Booksy has been experiencing rapid growth and this momentum is on track to continue into the future

● In anticipation of increasing scale and complexity of the business, we have expanded the Product & Technology divisions to 150 people divided into independent teams working on various parts of the Booksy platform. This new scale brings its own organizational and technological challenges

● We are now looking for VP Technology (reporting to the Chief Technology Officer) who will be responsible for driving technological change in the organization, maintaining high technological & code development standards and coordinating the team of Tech Leads to ensure Booksy is capable of sustaining its growth

Your responsibilities

  • Research into state-of-the-art technologies that may be relevant for future Booksy growth

  • Formulate the strategy for the Booksy tech stack and Booksy engineering practices in collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Product Officer and Product / System Owners. Identify challenges, propose long term solutions and driving technology change

  • Work with Product Owners and other stakeholders to ensure clear prioritization and a healthy balance between new development and refactoring

  • Coordinate a team of Tech Leads for each technology branch (Python backend, JavaScript frontend, iOS, Android, Data, DevOps, QA) and work with them to ensure best practices are implemented in their areas. Be a sparring partner for them and help them and their teams to constantly raise the bar

  • Research into state-of-the-art technologies that may be relevant for future Booksy growth

  • Work with the HR team and the Tech Leads to create development and training paths for developers, organize hackathons, participate in events, attract and retain technical talent

Our requirements

  • Over 3 years of experience in CTO, Technical Leader, Software Architect or similar roles (ideally including experience in a fast-growth international business environment e.g. SaaS, marketplace or other technology business)

  • A technological thought leader with a deep understanding of web, mobile and backend technologies, their interdependence and how they fit into business and scale requirements

  • An understanding of best practices in software development, agile methodologies, data-driven development and issues related to CI/CD

  • Ability to make balanced and thought through judgments to arrive at sound technological decisions or focus on initiatives with the highest impact

  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to keep the team motivated and develop their skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adjust the style and message to the audience across various functions and roles

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
