    Ab Initio Developer
    Location: Kraków

    The Financial Crime Threat Mitigation (FCTM) programme is part of HSBC’s strategic response to the findings of the US Permanent Senate Committee and the Deferred Prosecution Agreement with the US Department of Justice.

    In order to deliver this capability, we have built an industry leading platform that can be used to assist in the detection of financial crime. This platform leverages large quantities of computing power, best of breed middleware and bespoke sophisticated analytics.


    The primary focus of this role will be on the application of Ab Initio products to discover, define and manage metadata across the suite of data used by the FCTM organisation.


    Key Accountabilities:

    • Analysis, architecture design and implementation tasks related to data management, data extraction, profiling, data quality, metadata, business/IT transformation governance,
    • Data load to target system and exception management,
    • Supporting Ab Initio production processes and systems,
    • Close co-operation with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Lead Systems Architects, Java developers, QA engineers, and Business Analysts throughout the project lifecycle,
    • Identify and develop the Technical Design documents, including high-level Conceptual Data Process designs to be reviewed by data analysts,
    • Document and present alternative solutions to clients, supporting business processes and objectives,
    • Provide training, guidance, assistance, and knowledge transfer among team members.


    • Degree in Technology or equivalent commercial experience of at least 5 years
    • Strong development experience using Ab Initio tools and data integration best practices in complex data environments,
    • Exposure to the Ab Initio Metadata toolset & Ab Initio toolset on Hadoop / big data platforms,
    • Strong design, development, deployment, SDLC and support of ETL processes,
    • Very good command of English,
    • Experience with Hadoop/ Big data platforms, preferably Hortonworks distribution,
    • Experience in one of the following: Oracle 11G, Teradata, DB2 and MS SQL Server,
    • Experienced in Unix Shell scripting and general system administration,
    • Experience in data modelling will be an asset,
    • Excellent organisation skills and capability to manage multiple parallel activities,
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
