Category Buying Manager

Purpose of the role:

  • The Category Buying Manager will serve as the primary contact for all commercial and procurement activity within Pepco and to existing and potentially new suppliers.

  • The Buying Manager is responsible for delivering the Goods and Services of the category to the Pepco business at the optimum price, delivery and quality.

  • We are looking for Category Buying managers with experience in one of the following Categories: Property Services, IT, Marketing, Distribution and supply chain and Head office which will include FM and professional services.

 

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and communicate a procurement business plan for the category aligned to the overall procurement strategy of Better, Simpler, Cheaper and Faster;

  • Develop purchasing strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met or exceeded;

  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products in conjunction with Business requirements to be shared with the supplier base;

  • Ongoing review of the supplier base to identify opportunities to consolidate volumes and reduce the supplier base, that in turn delivers improvements in the costs;

  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers to include details of the supplier leadership team to ensure a smooth escalation process;

  • Negotiate and agree contracts in conjunction with the Pepco legal team;

  • Mitigate any risk to the supply chain by reviewing supplier performance, financial stability and understanding the alternative supplier options.

Requierements:

  • 3 - 5 years related job experience;

  • Proven track record of delivering savings;

  • Understanding of commercial contracts;

  • Experienced stakeholder and supplier relationship management;

  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills;

  • A passion for delivering procurement excellence within the retail sector

  • Ability to work globally with internal and external partners;

  • Self-starter with high degree of motivation who can operate with minimal supervision;

  • Open personality that is naturally curious to learn yet very focused on essential activities;

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills;

  • Curious, challenging and a “can do” attitude.
