    General Position Definition

    Shell’s Internal Communications Centre of Excellence (IC CoE) was established to develop and execute the company’s internal communications strategy on a global basis. The IC CoE supports the delivery of Shell’s business goals and priorities by ensuring consistency in strategy, systems, processes and tools across corporate, business and functional internal communications. The key objectives of the IC CoE are to: connect staff with strategy to ensure each employee understands their personal contribution to the company’s success; connect leaders with staff at all levels to strengthen employee engagement and motivation and drive a high-performance culture; and connect the organisation with the external world and customers.

    With that in mind, Internal Communications is seeking a highly professional Digital Data Analyst. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering communications insights; assessing and analyzing current digital environments to identify areas needing improvement; and for developing actionable insights for the Internal Communications team. You will be part of a large, global team with colleagues located in Asia, Africa, Middle East, North America and Europe. You will be working out of Shell’s Krakow office in Poland.

    Position Description – Purpose

    The Digital Data Analyst is a key role serving the Internal Communications Center of Excellence (IC CoE). You will need to immerse yourself in the different channels we use to reach various sets of internal audiences. You will become the expert that knows the user, and knows the magic – using data insights to tell the story of what works and what doesn’t in engaging our staff.

    We are looking for someone who has a passion for communications, an innate curiosity about our user, is good with numbers, and is eager to dive into large, complex datasets, pull out trends, and ultimately create actionable insights for our team and our stakeholders. You must be able to be creative in telling the story of the insights that emerge. This will be done using PowerPoint, infographics and more, enabling our IC CoE team to use the story to advise their senior stakeholders as well.

    Measurement focuses on content, projects and programmes on our core internal digital channels such as our primary digital publication (Shell Online), our business and function focused news channels (MyNews), our video platform (Stream), and executive engagements such as webcasts and face-to-face town halls and meetings.

    Your Essential Responsibilities

    In this position, you will:
    • Create, maintain and evolve clear, concise reporting for all digital communications with a focus on actionable insights
    • Work closely with the team that runs the internal communications channels in Shell (IC Channels team), our account managers who serve the various businesses and functions (IC business interfaces), and cross-team with HR Analytics to identify emerging trends and potential solutions
    • Identify opportunities for deeper analysis and optimization on our digital platforms
    • Routinely audit digital interfaces owned by Internal Communications to ensure optimal experience
    • Submit routine proposals for improvement or change in digital communications strategy
    • Work to continuously improve the functional journey for the IC CoE and based on the analysis, also give advice on how things can be done more effectively, with greater cost efficiency, etc.
    Skills needed to succeed

    Education and/or experience:
    • Proven experience in the field of communications preferred.
    • Professional experience working with digital communications platforms and data gathering and analysis is a must.
    • Demonstrated experience using data to tell a story in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, infographics, or more.
    • Able to work in a multi-cultural, global environment in a virtual team.
    Knowledge of:
    • Strong understanding of communications trends and new developments.
    • Advanced understanding of digital environment including intranet, banners, email, enterprise social networking (Yammer) and online surveys
    • Advanced knowledge of technical requirements to interface with various databases including large data sets in Adobe Analytics
    • Understanding of employee digital journey, experience and behaviors
    • Fluency in both spoken and written English

    Demonstrated proficiency in:

    • Highly motivated/self-starter with a sense of ownership, willingness to learn and desire to succeed
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while working on various projects simultaneously
    • Strong stakeholder management skills including ability to manage multiple stakeholders and at times competing deadlines
    • Able to work under pressure and deliver good quality data and reports fit to share with (senior) stakeholders
    • Influencing without authority through the building of strong collaborative relationships centered on collective delivery and shared outcomes
    • A creative and strategic thought partner with a keen eye for detail
