The Motion Business is a fast-growing part of Rockwell Automation that develops motion control products such as servo drives, servo motors, and independent cart systems for use in industrial applications. The most common market for these products are in factory automation applications such as packaging machinery, paper converting, printing, web handling, and automated assembly. 

Within the product development teams of the Motion Business, embedded software needs have increased in recent years as more and more functionality is put into software.  In order to expand our capacity to deliver these features, a new team will be formed in Rockwell Automation’s office in Katowice, Poland.  New team members at this location will have a great opportunity to join our business and contribute to even more success in the market.

PROJECT EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER (MTC)

CHALLENGES WAITING FOR YOU

The Embedded Software Project Engineer leads and participates in the firmware design, implementation, and testing activities for a motion control system.  Leadership assignments include specification development, effort estimation, architectural design, and reviewing the work of less-experienced engineers. 

Additional work assignments include requirements analysis, design, coding, and testing of the firmware for a servo motor drive.  Areas of design include Ethernet network communications, low level peripheral and memory drivers, display management, state machines, control algorithms, and fault detection. 

This role requires strong communications skills and ability to work effectively in large project teams.

 

 WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in real-time embedded software design using C or C++
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including collaboration and influencing skills across geographic boundaries and architectural design
  • Excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Very good knowledge of English

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • General understanding of 230-480VAC industrial power conversion equipment
  • Experience with motion control systems and/or industrial automation products and environments
  • Experience programming real-time embedded applications using C++ and object-oriented design methods
  • Experience developing testware for validating firmware on-target using Python or a programmable logic controller (PLC) development environment
