About the project

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related subject; an advanced degree is preferred. In addition, 5 or more years' experience in designing large and complex IT operations in large organizations, a research or academic environment is required.

The Sr. Cloud DBA engineer will also have the responsibility for mentoring and teaching team members. As such, the ideal candidate must have experience clearly explaining solutions to complex problems and demonstrate the ability to lead and impart knowledge effectively to peers.

For our client, from the aircraft industry, we realize a recruitment process on the position Senior Cloud Database Engineer.

Your responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for development cycles in integration/continuous deployment mode.
  • Work with application developers to automate and accelerate the testing, release, and deployment of applications into a runtime environment quickly and reliably.
  • Support the administration of business intelligence and (web) applications in Azure and support the development, maintenance, and enhancements of database capabilities on an agile within a cross-functional team.
  • Have a background in development, operations, and full-stack implementations. Have experience programming in a high-level language to script installation, configuration, and provisioning.
  • Provide continuous delivery solutions for our cloud environment and have experience with the core suite of tools used to manage Microsoft Azure cloud.
  • Performing triage, production release analysis, hunting bugs, driving DevSecOps adoption.
  • Promotes flexible collaboration and communication between development, security, compliance, testing, monitoring and production teams. Optimizes the release process by leading teams to identify gaps and eliminate barriers to enable increased frequency of accurate code deployment.
  • Technical leadership for migrating and maintaining SQL workloads on Azure cloud
  • Development and ownership of migration processes, documentation, and tooling
  • Consulting, including solution design and technical management
  • SQL administration, implementing best practices and resolving complex performance issues
  • Responsible for defining and implementing the build, deployment, and monitoring standards
  • Handle complicated bugs and complex application security issues
  • A part of an Agile development team to deliver an end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management in a cloud environment
  • Can distill complicated issues and communicate to peers and leaders the why it is important and how it works
  • Build and configure SQL environments supporting CI/CD tools using an Agile delivery methodology
  • Create scripts and/or templates to automate and/or bootstrap infrastructure provisioning and management tasks
  • Working closely with our development team to create an automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) system
  • As Senior Cloud Database Admin, you will design and develop database structures and schemas, analyze client workflow, determine the best solution for a successful project, and share knowledge of database, big data, or data analytics
  • As a part of the team, you will help the teams adopt to cloud native database solutions. To be successful in this role the candidate must have a deep knowledge of cloud data technologies and align technology solutions to specific business objectives
  • As Senior Cloud Database Engineer you will:
  • Participate in the management and operations of SQL deployments
  • Automate the build, operation, backup, restore, and monitoring of databases used across environments
  • Develop and evaluate database infrastructure performance criteria and measurement methods
  • Support day-to-day operations and management of enterprise level production databases in the cloud
  • Monitors user access and performance of the database systems
  • Create and introduce best practices for cloud database operations
  • Participation in maintenance windows and on-call rotation is required
  • Contributing to other support and automation efforts as needed
  • Work together with vendors and other personnel for problem resolution
  • Monitor and support SQL systems and related infrastructure
  • Develop custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower manual intervention
  • Contribute to the design of information and operational support systems
  • Organize the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, acting proactively
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain SQL instances in cloud, application software and system management tools
  • Oversee the company’s security, backup, and redundancy strategies on SQL
  • Evaluate SQL queries that are related to appli

Our requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 Years of relevant work experience required
  • Strong and solid experience of database administration in a cloud environment. Experience with HA/DR, replication/clustering and partitioning necessary
  • Experience writing and executing stress tests on databases and services
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
  • Exceptionally good knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, data-at-rest encryption, secure connectivity, and stored procedures etc.
  • Experience with Big Data concepts and technologies on Azure
  • Security-first mindset
  • Help developers solve application (security) defects
  • Experience deploying and monitoring (web) applications
  • Demonstrated experience with secure development, coding, engineering practices
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure testing strategies
  • Experience with systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, logging
  • Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines end-to-end, from code commits to production
  • Have effective verbal and non-verbal communication with peers and internal clients (English)
  • Develop, document, and implement CI/CD strategy for management of Infrastructure as Code IaC (Infrastructure as code) baselines
  • 5 years' experience in any of the related traditional MSSQL database technologies (MSSQL, Postgres)
  • Hands-on expertise with performance tuning, high-availability (HA/DR) and data warehousing
  • Strong experience with data modeling tools
  • Experience with developing stored procedures/queries/triggers/views etc. using various SQL scripting languages
  • Automation and configuration management tools

  • Security and Monitoring applications
  • Knowledge of development process, tools, and technologies
  • Hands-on experience and extensive knowledge of security assurance tools and ARM, Azure Monitor, Azure AppInsights, Azure DevOps etc., and their integration into the CI/CD cycle

  • Infrastructure as code (IAC) patterns and principles
  • PowerShell, Azure CLI etc. scripting capabilities
  • Good understanding of REST API (Applications and Programming Interfaces) principles
  • Understanding of Microservice architecture
  • Understanding of bus service architecture
  • Experience optimizing database related operations
  • Experience maintaining an infrastructure and ensuring stability while adding new features
  • Ability to clearly articulate design and implementation choices
