Software Engineering Manager
Workplace: Kraków

Will be responsible for leading a Software Engineering team in support of the QRG Technology Strategy.  This team will operate following an Agile Methodology and will be comprised of Software Engineers, QA, Scrum Masters.  This role will require partnering with Value Stream leaders in IT and the Business to deliver prioritized capabilities within the Value Stream backlog.  The functional areas to support include Merchandising, Marketing, Content, Customer Purchase & Service, Supply Chain, Corporate Service, Enterprise Data Management, and/or SAP. This role will setup new Team within Poland Software Engineering practice and will join Global Green-Field Implementation of SAP S4. This role requires a broad working knowledge of integrated system solutions with significant exposure to multiple platforms and systems as it relates to Integrations and the use of Middleware, i/e/ MuleSoft and WebMethods.

Technical / Functional Skills/Experience:

  • Broad working knowledge in Software Engineering leadership is required. 
  • Experience leading a team of a technical nature in a captive location is required.
  • Experience with operating in a SOx and IT General Computing Control (GCC) environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with both On Prem and Cloud implementations is strongly preferred.
  • Broad working knowledge of Retail industry business processes is preferred.
  • Experience in Agile Methodology is strongly preferred.

Geographical / Business Unit Scope:

  • Role will be based in Krakow, Poland.
  • Scope for Software Engineering work will cover Global Qurate Retail Group (all QVC markets and HSN brands).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer sciences or equivalent is required; Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical Team Lead experience leading Technical teams.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing a Software Engineering team in a captive location.
  • Experience of building a Software Engineering team in a captive location.

Budget Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the Director, Software Engineering, GBS to prepare the budget investment in the Krakow Software Engineering team. 

Team Size:

  • This is a Leader position.  Direct reports estimated at 10.  We are expecting this Leader to help build our Software Engineering practice in Krakow under the leadership of the Director, Software Engineering, GBS.

  • Accountable for the technical direction of the team, leveraging technical experts and fostering technical innovation.
  • Designs and sets team objectives and participates in setting team and/or department-related goals.
  • Ensures quality, compliance, and fiscal standards are met for the team.
  • Submits team budget and ensures budget objectives are achieved through team members.
  • Makes hiring recommendations.
  • Responsible for all performance-related activities, including performance reviews and any disciplinary recommendations. Makes compensation recommendations.  
  • Participates in planning and review of potential expansion of team scope and scale.
  • Implements strategies to attract, retain, motivate and develop talent in their organization.
